A 30-year master electrician with an outdated, bare-bones website and a tight budget, forcing them to rely on word of mouth for new business. The site lacked information about their services, had low-resolution images, and didn’t accurately reflect the quality of service or neighborly professionalism La Jolla Quick Connect provides. LJQC hired me to craft a microsite that would set them apart from the competition and set them up for success.

United Electrical Systems, DBA La Jolla Quick Connect, is owned and operated by Leandro Velazquez, a master electrician with 30 years of experience serving the greater San Diego area. His apprentice, Seth, brought me on to build them a new website that would improve the business’s online presence.

Word of mouth isn't cutting it

The Business Problem
The Business Problem

United Electrical Systems’ previous website wasn’t bringing any leads or working effectively as a marketing tool. The site lacked information about their services, had low-resolution images, and didn’t accurately reflect the quality of service or professionalism of the business.

Starting from scratch

Starting from scratch

the goals
the goals
  • Overhaul the website with an emphasis on search engine optimization to improve new client leads and conversions.

  • Create a mini brand that is masculine, modern, and memorable, setting UES apart from other electricians and tradesmen.

constraints
constraints
  • The business name, United Electrical Systems, is almost the same as three other direct competitors in the San Diego area (United Electric, United Plumbing, Heating, Air & Electric, and United Electric Supply Co.). I urged Seth and Leandro to consider a new name for the business to avoid confusion and improve brand recognition. They landed on La Jolla Quick Connect.

  • UES’s limited budget only allowed for the most basic Framer plan, meaning that we were limited to two webpages—a landing page and 404.

  • There are only a handful of client testimonials on Yelp, and the UES team is unable to claim their Google business profile, further limiting search results and access to testimonials.

  • Leandro was unwilling to include photos of himself or staff in the “About” section of the website, which compromises the warmth and trustworthiness of the brand reputation.

Seth and Leandro now have a visual identity that is unique and memorable in the construction and trade contractor industry. While most electricians’ websites are quite drab and on the nose with lightning bolts for logos and red, white, and navy color schemes, the new visual identity is masculine, warm, and professional, with a modern craftsman feel.

The website is now indexed on search engines.
They have significantly improved SEO, with alt text on images, implementations of HTML tags, and keywords peppered throughout the newly rewritten site copy.
UES now has analytics to review where users find their site, thanks to Framer’s built-in analytics system.

Rachel was so so helpful. A friend recommended her when I was looking to update my website. I had a vague idea of what I wanted it to look like and she blew me away with the end result. She came up with a new color palette and layout that made the website flow and look modern, she was great to work with, very responsive and she made adjustments based on my feedback. Would definitely recommend
