human-made, always

my promise

I don't use generative AI in my work or personal life. It is fundamentally at odds with my ethics and belief in Tikkun Olam—that we must do whatever we can to leave the world better than we found it.

The unfortunate truth is that fortune 500 corporations, VCs, and the powers that be are forcing it on us. Wherever possible, I will turn off and refrain from using AI.

why am I anti-ai?

I won't bore you with extremely cold takes, but as an artist, as someone who cares about community, as someone who cares about the environment and our ability to survive as a species, I cannot in good conscience use AI.

global majority, tech minority

Sadly, among designers and in the tech world, folks are all too comfortable diving head-first into generative AI.

My background is in the arts and I've built a career that allows me to build up other artists and creatives. I studied the entertainment industry, artist management, and intellectual property law in university. I know how nefarious these large language models are, having been trained on stolen IP to mimic what fundamentally sets us apart as humanity—our creativity—and in turn strip us of our livelihoods, security, and community.

I encourage you to take action. Support local creatives and small businesses, turn off AI wherever you can, lobby your representatives… No one person can do it all, but you can find your one small way to contribute to the cause.

the legal policy

Client obligations regarding AI tools

All deliverables produced by Raedio Design (the studio); including but not limited to concept documents, strategic documents, mood boards, wireframes, color palettes, website designs, written content, logos, illustrations, graphic design elements, slide decks, and supporting written guidelines, remain the intellectual property of the studio until full payment is received, and are subject to ongoing copyright protection thereafter.

Clients must not input any studio deliverable, in whole or in part, into any artificial intelligence tool, platform, or model. This includes but is not limited to AI image generators, language model tools, design platforms with AI features, or any tool whose terms of service permit the use of submitted content for model training.

This restriction exists because:

  • Most AI platforms retain the right to use submitted content to train or improve their models, even when a "private" setting is selected

  • Submitting studio deliverables to these tools may constitute unauthorised reproduction or distribution of copyrighted material

  • The studio cannot be responsible for the accuracy, quality, or legal standing of any AI-generated output that incorporates or is derived from our work

If you are uncertain whether a specific tool complies with this clause, please contact me before use.

Breach

Breach of this clause may constitute copyright infringement and will be treated as a material breach of our agreement.
